For the very first time the International Tchaikovsky Competition will conduct two children’s competitions

Children's competitions will commemorate the 175th anniversary of Tchaikovsky's birth. The first competition will take place in music schools for children studying piano, violin, cello and solo voice. The second competition will take place in secondary schools and select the best graphic art and best essay on the topic of Tchaikovsky's achievements. The entries will be judged in several stages: first, at the individual schools; then, at the level of the constituent districts of the Russian Federation; and, finally, at the level of federal districts. The children's competitions will cover all 85 federal districts of the Russian Federation. These competitions are scheduled from February 1st to April 15th. Winners will travel to Moscow from June 28th to July 2nd to attend events in the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, and the best graphics and essays will be displayed in a special exhibition.
