Total number of applications to participate in the Competition

The Administration of the XV Tchaikovsky Competition can report the total number of applications to participate in the Competition: 623 applications from 45 countries: Russia, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, North Korea, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the USA, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.

The majority of applications were from Russia, South Korea, China, Japan and the USA. Other countries with a leading number of applications are France, Ukraine, Italy and Germany.

Please note that the period for acceptance of applications to the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition has closed as of March 1st.

After all the technical compilation of the applications is finished, the next stage will proceed: the judging panel will conduct a qualifying round to select contestants on the basis of the video recordings they have submitted. Please note that in accordance with the Competition's rules, winners of first prizes in major international competitions and in the All-Russia Music Competition do not participate in the selection. They will automatically be entered in the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition.

After the qualifying round, there will remain 60 pianists, 50 violinists, 50 cellists, and 80 vocalists (40 female and 40 male) accepted for preliminary auditions. The results of the qualifying round will be published at the beginning of April.

The XV International Tchaikovsky Competition will take place in Moscow and Saint Petersburg from June 15th to July 3rd 2015.
