Daniil Kharitonov, Lucas Debargue, Alexander Ramm will be performing in Italy

From 6 to 9 September Daniil Kharitonov, Lucas Debargue, Alexander Ramm and the Mariinsky Orchestra will be performing in Italy. The tour programme, to be held at major concert venues in these countries, features music by Russian composers.

On 6 September in Rimini there will be an evening dedicated to the works of Pyotr Tchaikovsky/ Under the baton of maestro Gergiev the Mariinsky Orchestra will perform the Romeo and Juliet fantasy overture, Piano Concerto No 1 and Symphony No 4. The concert will feature pianist Daniil Kharitonov, recipient of the 3rd prize at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition. This performance will take place as part of the LXVI Festival of Music in Rimini which has been run in the Italian resort town since 1950. On 7 September maestro Gergiev will be conducting the Mariinsky Orchestra in two concerts of music by Prokofiev at the Sala Verdi of the Milan Conservatorio. These performances were conceived as an educational project and combined under the title Prokofiev for Children and Adults. A Day with the Mariinsky Orchestra. The matinee concert programme includes the symphonic tale Peter and the Wolf and the evening concert will see highlights from the ballet suite Romeo and Juliet, the Sinfonia concertante for cello and orchestra and the Second Symphony. The solo will be performed by cellist Alexander Ramm, recipient of the 2nd prize at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition. The concerts will take place as part of the MITO SettembreMusica festival – founded in 2007, this festival is run in early autumn and presents audiences with a huge symphony programme at various music venues in Milan and Turin (the name being derived from the Italian names of “Milano” and “Torino”). On 8 September Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra will be appearing in Merano, an Italian town not far from the Austrian border. The evening programme includes the ballet suite Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev and the First Piano Concerto and the Sixth (Pathétique) Symphony by Tchaikovsky. The solo will be performed by Lucas Debargue – recipient of the 4th prize at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition.
