A record number of applications for participation in the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition have been filed

The applications for participation in the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition have been counted. In total, 954 applications from 58 countries of the world have been submitted

The applications for participation in the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition have been counted. In total, 954 applications from 58 countries of the world have been submitted: Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Benin, Bulgaria, Brazil, Great Britain, Hungary, Venezuela, Vietnam, Germany, Hong Kong, Greece, Denmark, Israel, Iran, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, China, Colombia, North Korea, South Korea, Cuba, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, the USA, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia and Japan. Of these, the majority of applications come from Russia, South Korea, China, the USA and Japan. Also, there are many applications from France, Italy and Germany.

The applications for participation in the XVI Tchaikovsky International Competition were accepted till 05 April 2019.

Upon completion of all technical procedures of the applications processing, the next working phase will begin: the jury members will conduct a virtual selection of participants based  on  the  video  recordings  received.  Following  the results of the virtual selection, 24 pianists, 24 violinists, 24 cellists, 60 vocalists (30 men and 30 women) and 96 wind instrument players (48 woodwind instrument players and 48 brass instrument players, but not more than 12 persons for each instrument) will be approved to take part in the first round of the Competition.
