The Broadcast of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition Events has Received over Three Million Views

The broadcast of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition events on medici.tv has gathered about 3 million views over the three days that have passed since the start of the Competition.

That is twice as high as the results of the first days of the Competition taking place in 2015. In total, the events of the XVI Competition are watched by viewers from 142 countries and 5537 cities. Viewers in Russia, the USA and Japan display the greatest interest towards the broadcasts.

According to statistical data of medici.tv as of the morning of June 20, 2019 (Moscow time), the total number of views of the Grand Opening of the Competition taking place on June 17, 2019 in the Great Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and competitive auditions of the First Round in the Piano, Violin, Cello and Voice categories, which began on June 18, 2019, amounted to 2,675,882. Of them, 1,136,780 are live online views and 1,539,102 are delayed views on tch16.medici.tv. Among the categories, the undisputed leader turned out to be Piano: the two-day competitive auditions of pianists (June 18 and 19, 2019) were viewed 1,192,671 times.

The official social networks of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition also got a successful start; during the first days of the Competition, their audience reached 900,000 people and the broadcast was viewed 383,000 times. 

The XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition is being held from June 17 to 29, 2019 in Moscow and St. Petersburg. On June 18, 2019, Competition auditions for the Piano, Violin, Cello and Voice categories were launched; on June 19, 2019, participants in the Woodwind Instruments category entered the Competition. The auditions in the Brass Instruments categorywill begin on June 22, 2019.

All events of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition are available for online and delayed viewing on the world’s largest classical music channel, medici.tv. Competition performances, backstage reports, archival footage and other exclusive videos are broadcasted 24 hours a day every day of the Competition on the tch16.medici.tv platform.
