XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition is Getting Ready for the Third Round

Participants of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition in the Piano, Violin, Cello, Voice, and Woodwind Instrument categories have started rehearsals with orchestras.

Auditions of the Third Round of the Competition in the Piano and Violin categories will be held in Moscow from June 25, 2019 to June 27, 2019. Pianists will perform on the stage of the Great Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, accompanied by the State Academic Symphony Orchestra “Evgeny Svetlanov” conducted by Vasily Petrenko. Violinists will perform on the Stage of the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, accompanied by the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Yuri Simonov.

In St. Petersburg, Cello auditions for the Third Round will be accompanied by the Honored Ensemble of Russia, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Nikolai Alekseev. Auditions for the Voice nomination will be accompanied by the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Sinkevich. Woodwind and brass instruments will be accompanied by the same Orchestra. Woodwinds will be conducted by Christian Knapp, and Brass instruments by Arseny Shuplyakov. Participants in the Cello Category will perform on the stage of the Grand Hall of the D.D.Shostakovich St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonia from June 25, 2019 to June 27, 2019 beginning at 18:00. The auditions for the Wind Instruments will be held on June 27, 2019 at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre at 10:00. (Brass Instruments), and at 17:00 (Woodwind Instruments). Vocalists will perform on the New Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre (Mariinsky II) at 19:00.
