The Names of the Prizewinners at the Tchaikovsky Competition in the Violin Category have been Announced

By decision of the jury members of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition in the Violin category, the prizewinners are:

First Prize and Gold Medal: Sergey Dogadin (Russia)

Second Prize and Silver Medal: Marc Bouchkov (Belgium)

Third Prize and Bronze Medal: Donghyun Kim (Korea)

Fourth Prize and Diploma: Aylen Pritchin (Russia) and Mayumi Kanagawa (USA)

Fifth Prize – was not awarded 

Sixth Prize and Diploma: Milan Al-Ashhab (Czech Republic)

23 contestants have attended the auditions in the Violin category, taking place from June 18 to 27, 2019 in the Small Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. The jury consisted of: Martin Engstroem (Jury Chair), Salvatore Accardo, Kristóf Baráti, Mikhail Kopelman, Sergej Krylov, Boris Kuschnir, Elmar Oliveira, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Akiko Suwanai, Viktor Tretiakov, Michael Haefliger, Aleksey Shalashov.

The winner of the Grand Prix of the Competition will be announced on June 29, 2019 during the gala concert of the laureates in St. Petersburg, which will be held at the New Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre (Mariinsky II).
