The Names of the Prizewinners at the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition in the Voice Category have been Announced
By decision of the jury members of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition in the Voice category, the prizewinners are:
Women:
First Prize and Gold Medal: Maria Barakova (Russia)
Second Prize and Silver Medal: Aigul Khismatullina (Russia)
Third Prize and Bronze Medal: Maria Motolygina (Russia)
Fourth Prize and Diploma: Angelina Akhmedova (Uzbekistan) and Oksana Mayorova (Russia)
Men:
First Prize and Gold Medal: Alexandros Stavrakakis (Greece)
Second Prize and Silver Medal: Gihoon Kim (Republic of Korea)
Third Prize and Bronze Medal: Migran Agadjanyan (Russia)
Fourth Prize and Diploma: Ankhbayar Enkhbold (Mongolia)
A vocal prize in memory of Dmitri Hvorostovsky – Vladislav Kupriyanov
59 contestants have attended the auditions in the Cello category, taking place from June to 27, 2019 in the Mussorgsky Hall at the New Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The jury consisted of: Sarah Billinghurst Solomon(Jury Chair), Eva Wagner-Pasquier, Evamaria Wieser, Edita Gruberova, Susan Graham, Charles MacKay, Mikhail Petrenko, Matti Salminen, Jonathan Friend, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Albina Shagimuratova, Neil Shicoff.
The winner of the Grand Prix of the Competition will be announced on June 29, 2019 during the gala concert of the laureates in St. Petersburg, which will be held at the New Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre (Mariinsky II).
