The winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition will open a new season of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic

YEKATERINBURG, January 25. / TASS /. The jubilee 85th season of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic will open with a concert by the winner of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition, which will be held on September 18. This was announced on Saturday by the first deputy director for creative activity of the philharmonic society Rustem Hasanov.

The International Tchaikovsky Competition is held once every four years, for the first time it was held in 1958. The competition has the status of youth, the final auditions are held in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.

“We included Dmitry Liss [the artistic director and chief conductor of the Ural Academic Philharmonic Orchestra] with the winner of the last International Tchaikovsky Competition - violinist Sergei Dogadin. It is symbolic that this violinist opens our 85th concert season with a Tchaikovsky concert” - said the deputy director.

Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Society - one of the oldest philharmonic societies in Russia, was founded in 1936. The Philharmonic has seven branches of the concert hall in the cities of the Sverdlovsk Region and a virtual concert hall. Spends more than 2 thousand concerts per season.
