International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians to be held in two countries
From April 30 to May 12, 2022, Moscow and Chengdu (PRC) will host the XI International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, one of the largest competitions in the world of academic music for young people majoring in piano, violin, cello.
"We are following the fate of the competitors<...> Many of them become prize winners of the adult Tchaikovsky Competition," Yuri Tkachenko, Chief Guest Conductor of the Competition, said to the TV BRICS channel. "For example, violinist Aylen Pritchin, one of the winners of the competition for young people, became a winner of the competition for adults. There are also other similar examples."
The competition for young musicians has been held since 1992. This year, for the first time, it will take place in China (Chengdu) and Russia (Moscow) at the same time, with more than 200 young musicians from 14 countries participating.
The Competition is organized by the Association of Tchaikovsky Competition Stars and Chengdu Zhongchai Media & Cultural Communication Co., Ltd with the support of the Chengdu City Government, the Moscow State Conservatory, the Central Conservatory of Music (PRC), the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The natural connection with the legendary International Tchaikovsky Competition, a large number of participants and their high performance level, and reputable international jury make the Youth Competition one of the most prestigious international music competitions for young people.
