Exhibitions on Moscow, Saint Petersburg and... Online!

In the days of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition, there are 6 photo exhibitions dedicated to the 65-year history of the Competition in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Exhibitions entitled the INTERNATIONAL TCHAIKOVSKY COMPETITION . EVENTS. FACTS. NAMES. has been prepared by one of the largest museums in the country, the Russian National Museum of Music. The exhibition includes unique archival photographs from the collections of the Russian National Museum of Music, the State Memorial and Musical Museum-reserve of P. Tchaikovsky in Klin, as well as the author's works by photographers S. Melnik, S. Khenkin, A. Stepanov, A. Daiko, M. Dalibando, S. Novoselova, S. Biryukova, Yu. Barykina, D. Rylova from the archives of the International Tchaikovsky Competition and the Federal State Educational Institution of Culture ROSCONCERT.

The photographs presented at the exhibition captured the solemn moments of the opening and closing of the Competition in different years, greetings from the organizers, the draw of participants, auditions of contestants, discussions of jury members, the triumph of the winners, the prize distribution. There are photos of domestic and foreign performers who won international acclaim thanks to the Tchaikovsky Competition: Van Cliburn, Valery Klimov, Natalia Shakhovskaya, John Ogdon, Eliso Virsaladze, Viktor Tretyakov, Vladimir Atlantov, Grigory Sokolov, Elena Obraztsova, Vladimir Spivakov, Evgeny Nesterenko, David Geringas, Liana Isakadze, Andrei Gavrilov, Mikhail Pletnev, Antonio Meneses, Boris Berezovsky, Deborah Voigt, Hibla Gerzmava, Nikolay Lugansky, Denis Matsuev, Daniil Trifonov, Albina Shagimuratova, Dmitry Masleev and many others.

In Moscow, the photo exhibition can be found in the lobby of the Great Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Bolshaya Nikitskaya str., 13), at the Leningrad railway station (in the waiting room on the second floor), and there is an open-air exposition in Nikitsky Boulevard (next to the Moscow Conservatory), too. In St. Petersburg, an open-air photo exhibition was placed in the historical center of the Northern capital, in Malaya Sadovaya Street, as well as at the Moscow railway station (in the waiting room on the ground floor).

There is another photo exhibition dedicated to the participants and laureates of the specialties that appeared in 2019: brass instruments and woodwinds in the White Hall of the State Academic Capella (Moika River Embankment, 20). The same location shelters the exhibition of wind instruments prepared by the National Association of participants in the music industry and the development of musical instruments and sound equipment MIR-MIO, which provided instruments for the Competition.

All exhibitions will be on display until July 2, 2023. The online exhibition will also be available following the end of the Competition.
